The newest trailer for Doctor Who Series 10 has dropped, and it’s a whopper. It definitely didn’t leak two days early all over Twitter. Nope… Never happened. *Cough*
As we’re just over a month till airing it’s likely this will be the main trailer running on BBC channels. I can take a few weeks off then… Watch it for yourselves HERE. Let’s do this!
The trailer starts with Nardole peering into a bag looking ever so bemused.
The camera flies over a forest toward a golden pyramid that I genuinely thought was made of ferrero rocher when I first saw it…
The TARDIS lands on an alien rocky landscape. Some lovely CGI work going on.
Two small white figures follow tracks in a corn field. Those pesky aliens and their crop circles again!
A big space station of sort hangs in space. Similar in design to that undersea base from Under The Lake in Series 9…
Bill runs out of her university…
Towards The Doctor!
“This is the gateway to everything that ever was, or ever can be.” Ooh nice description of the TARDIS. He’s clearly trying to get Bill to become his companion.
Bill stands at the TARDIS doors as the ship awakens.
This might be my favourite shot of the whole trailer. All the lights turning on looks gorgeous.
“It’s like a…”
A lever is flipped!
And it starts a bumpy ride for The Doctor and Nardole. Note Matt Lucas’ little bit of ‘wobbly’ acting as he bounces up and down.
Bill is thrown against the railings. I’m glad the TARDIS is having more rickety journeys again, I never quite liked Capaldi flying it perfectly flat in Series 8.
Bill turns, and glances up at the spinny things atop the time rotor.
The TARDIS flies through space!
The Doctor and Bill walk down a futuristic path, filming reports say this is somewhere in Barcelona.
“That is a robot” Well done Bill. Stating the bleeding obvious I see.
Those robots are tiny. I hope Warwick Davis is inside one of them.
“It speaks Emoji!” I just want you all to pause for a moment and consider what William Hartnell’s reaction to that might have been.
“Mars?!” This is the first time since 2012 we’ve had the whole ‘excited new companion’ thing to play on. I hope it works for them.
The Doctor smiles as they wander through a red cave in unfamiliar space suits.
“1814” A Thames Frost Fair! I’ve said for years they should do a Doctor Who story here.
“Get in!” exclaims Bill. Clearly excited by her Victorian dress and headpiece. I LOVE that outfit Capaldi is wearing too, cosplayers do your work…
Medieval folk surround Doc and Nardole who’s decided to dress like he’s in a cheap B&B for the weekend.
“Nice here… Isn’t it?” Reviewing the B&B for you all.
Bill looks on in terror! Has she just seen Moffat’s plans for her in the final episode?
The Doctor makes a whooshing noise and points up to the sky.
Oh god it’s the Sylvester McCoy title sequence.
Bill in the middle of a … supernova? Maybe? I’ve no idea.
Some more of that spinny space station.
“So how do we stay out of trouble?” Don’t look on GallifreyBase and you’ll be fine Bill.
A giant eye opens to peer at two travellers in aqua suits. My guess is Doc and Bill.
The giant eye monster has a mouth too! Whatever next…
The Doctor smiles at something. Yes.
“This is naughty” *smacks head on desk*
A Dalek fires toward the camera!
Ooh. A brunette woman assembles from … water? Nope I’m lost.
“Exterminate!” she cries whilst standing perfectly still. I’ve still got nothing.
Is that Ralf Little from Two Pints of Lager? He’s holding a gun of some sorts and shielding his eyes from…
The futuristic city as it explodes forth a blinding white glow.
All better then no damage done.
The Doctor backs away from a spiky door.
And upon the camera zooming in we see Gallifreyan symbols adorning the door. I wonder what could be inside as the door shakes and is being forced open…
“Something’s coming Bill… And I have a feeling that we’re gonna be very busy” It’s that shot from that preview thing!
A cloaked figure wanders down a library.
Closer and closer…
Cheer up mate, might never happen.
Bill looks on in fear.
“It’s time.” Why hello there Mr Poirot. What are you doing with that tuning fork?
The many faces of the EmojiBots. Ruddy ecstatic…
And grumpy. Don’t remember seeing that emoji on my phone. I would use it all the smegging time though.
“Doctor!” Because of course Steven Moffat is going to write a Missy script in his final series. Just like RTD wanted a Rose script. Loving the new look too Michelle.
He’s looking grumpy again.
Of all the characters they bring back, the wooden queen from the 2011 Christmas episode? Seriously?!
The United Nations guard some abandoned buildings. They don’t seem to be UNIT either, just boring old UN soldiers. He’s got those bloody sonic shades on again…
The TARDIS flies through space again, did nobody tell them they’ve done that already in this trailer?
You need a wash mate. And trim your fingernails.
The Doctor grabs onto a skull akin to Tom Baker in Image of the Fendahl!
He’s swiftly throw back away from the figure. He’s also apparently in the Crystal Maze so it’s nice they got that tie in deal.
I tried so hard to get a decent frame of this shot, but this was the best I could do. He’s punching a guy… Honest. You can even hear the punch in the trailer.
See. Note the AWESOME blue lining on Capaldi’s black frock coat.
Folks in space suits (good name for an album title) stroll out of a door. They look quite angry too.
“You’re about to be exposed to the vacuum of space” Pearl Mackie looks shocked because that wasn’t in her contract presumably.
Two figures in those space suits we’ve seen before float in space. It doesn’t look much like Pearl or Peter so I’m assuming these are side characters.
asBill cries… Aw poor asBill.
ABJUBFJVBKJKJLSJDNVJDNFVJDNFVOLEVKNDEFV. alright Matthew, calm down. Breathe now.
MONDASIAN CYBERMEN. ACTUAL PROPER CLOTH FACED CHEAP 60S CYBERMEN. Woo! Gimme all of that.
A female Ice Warrior? Well that looks new. Tying in to the Mars thing we saw earlier.
Nardole zaps a box. BUT WAIT. Is that… No… In his hand? It can’t be…
The box explodes! Good job Nardole, I think.
Some more of Pearl Mackie from that promo reel aired a few months ago.
Missy looks on from inside her glowy box.
“This is the moment you’ve been waiting for since the day you were born!” Alright Doc you’ve only known Bill about ten minutes calm down.
They run from a water jet, and Darth Vader’s face forms in the water. No word of a lie.
The red robes chap reaches out to grab the camera man again.
He’s looking very excited with himself. Has he just found a new coat?
That’s… But… How the… Is it really…?
It’s the sonic screwdriver from the 70s and 80s! Used by Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, and Peter Davison. The famous silver tube with a red round thing on the top. Oh you beauty. Maybe it’s the original, maybe we’re gonna have a scene of Nardole in Toys R Us to pick one up. Who knows…
Bill runs to the Doc, note the change in outfits.
She runs some more!
Those red robes try to grab The Doctor…
But he breaks free, clinging on to a laptop I think…
Errm. Guys? That’s the shot from 2011’s The Doctor’s Wife again isn’t it? I thought you learnt that lesson last year!
“Nardole, Bill. With me… to the TARDIS!”
Doctor Who returns to BBC One on Saturday the 15th of April for it’s 36th Season. Good luck.
